India is a country located in South Asia, bordering the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, between Burma and Pakistan. It occupies a total area of 3,287,263 km2 and has around 1.4 billion inhabitants, making it the second most populous country in the world. It is a republic made up of 28 states and seven union territories, with a system of parliamentary democracy. The country is the seventh largest economy in the world by nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

 

Home to the Indus Valley Civilization, historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent is identified by its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history. India's diverse economy encompasses traditional agriculture, modern agriculture, handicrafts, a wide variety of modern industries and a multitude of services.

 

India still suffers from high levels of poverty, illiteracy, gender-based violence, disease and malnutrition. A pluralistic, multilingual and multi-ethnic society, India is also home to a great diversity of wild animals and protected habitats. Almost 80% of the population is Hindu and less than 3% are Christians.

How we operate

 

MT28 supports Indian pastor Rajesh, who is carrying out important work in Bhubaneswar, capital of the state of Orissa. In this region, the church suffers some type of religious persecution. This brother has been brave in the face of such a challenge of preaching the gospel in a country hostile to Christians. Many lives have been reached for the Kingdom of God, being freed and transformed.

 

Missionary work in this country is challenging and aims to cooperate in different ways with the Indian church. In addition to preaching the Gospel, we seek to cooperate with the support of workers and needy families, support an orphanage in Bodhgaya and create sustainable projects.

Jesus Christ has been announced in miserable, difficult-to-reach places where he had never been heard of before.
